Osias Baltazar Coching
1925 – 2007
Faithful husband for 46 years to Judith Coching has peacefully passed away on June 2, 2007 at the age of 82 in San Jose, CA. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his loving children Glenda, married to Brian Yap; Neal, married to Julie Petermeier Coching; Jean and Abigail Coching. He is also adored by five grandchildren: Sean and Elise Yap; Ashley, Lauren and Christopher Coching. He is fondly remembered by many relatives and friends.
Osias was born in Numancia, Aklan, Philippines. He was the eldest in a family of 5 brothers and 3 sisters, worked his way through college, graduated from FEATI University with an Aeronautical Engineering degree. In 1953 he enlisted in the US Navy and volunteered for submarine service. In 1955 at US Naval Station Treasure Island, he attended naval schools for specialized training in radio and infrared equipment, submarine antennae repair and maintenance. Osias married Judith Espiritu at Moffet Field in 1960. In 1969 he graduated from the US Naval Electronics School at Treasure Island, received military commendations, 2 national defense service medals, and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Osias retired from the US Navy on October 1, 1974 as an Electronics Technician 1st Class in Honolulu, Hawaii. His second career as a civilian was working for Varian in San Jose as a Sr. Electrician. His great passion was to be a devoted grandfather, a jack-of-all trades, and an avid orchid and rose grower.
The family invites you to attend the memorial service held at Darling-Fischer Mortuary at 471 E. Santa Clara St., San Jose, CA, and 11:00 am mass at St. John Vianney Church at 4600 Hyland Ave., San Jose, CA on June 8, 2007.
